The general census seems to be that the best nexgen console combination is a Wii and 360. You can get both of them for the price of a PS3. The 360 is more inline with the PS3 and offers classic gaming, while the Wii is in a league of its own with unique gameplay.

I think it would be a great combination – owning a Wii and 360. I probably will only get the Wii though, just because the 360 is close enough to a PC that I don’t want to shell out money for it.

So I guess I'm going with WiiPC.

What combination sounds best to you?

I'd go with the Wii as well (+PC, of course), mainly because I've always been a huge Nintendo fan and nothing else. I bought Xbox mainly for Halo, and it was good for a while, but I slowly drifted away from it. Nintendo has always held my loyalty, whether it be because it was my first, the first, or just because of their unique style. It seems like they set the bar, then Sony and Microsoft get up to that bar and start competing with each other. Nintendo stays out of it until they set another bar, when the cycle starts over again.

I guess you could say that that started when video game consoles were invented. Then there were first-person shooters on N64, so Sony came out with the analog controller (with the control sticks) to make that work for them. The analog also covered rumbling, which the N64 had with the rumble pak. Some more examples are shoulder buttons (SNES), a four-button configuration (SNES), and gun controllers (NES, but nobody else was in the scene yet). There are some exceptions, though, like discs rather than cartridges (Sony was first), memory cards (also Sony), and pressure-sensitive buttons (Microsoft).

So yeah. If I choose to get something, I'm going with the Wii, but I might just not get anything and get the new Zelda for GCN instead.

(Yes, i know. "New guy! WTF! Nice to meet all of you") Considering the price range of all three consoles, the 360 being first to release, i would honestly have to give my cash to the Nintendo Wii. It seems to be continuing in Nintendo's previous cosoles' footsteps, in that it's price is affordable, there is sure to be quite a few good games (I mean... Project H.A.M.M.E.R. Looks incredible) and it's something refreshing. Having attended E3, i must say i was impressed with the Wii, from the short time i got to play with it. The X360, in my own opinion, is a mere Xbox with slightly prettier graphics. But nothing incredible. I played Battlefield 2, and wasn't really impressed at all. I was looking forward to smooth, brilliant graphics, and instead, i was upset to find myself playing a, as said previously, Xbox with SLIGHTLY prettier graphics.

XBOX has always sucked, PS3 looks like pretty much crap, Wii is clearly the way to go. If you're going to own any combination of the two.....Don't.

PS3 has some gorgeous graphics on it. But they just aren't gorgeous enough for me to shell out 600 dollars, when i could buy a Wii, and somewhere around five to six games. (Mmmm. Metroid, Mario, Zelda, and Red Steel. Yum.) I really hope that they truly plan to use their internet capabilities more with this console, instead of the few games net capable with GC. A Pilot Wings Online would be damn fun. (Red steel in net playable, i believe... Fun.)

Red Steel looks like a blast. Pilot Wings Online, now I would love to see that.

I agree that the 360 is really just a beefed up XBox. Same goes for the PS3, except it has some new stuff thrown in. In reality, the XBox and PS2 were pretty interchangeable (games aside). The only major difference was the interface. Now that the PS3 is going out on a limb with Blue-ray and everything, I would say it's safe to put money into the 360 if you're into classic gaming.

honestly, the 360 is the worst of the 3 systems. i meen look.... there already plagued with the same problems that came with the origional x-box. crappy manufacturing, hardware issues out the ass. and it isnt even backwards compatable..... wtf....

Imma have to go with the Wii as well, simply because you can play SOOOOOOOOOOOOo many great old games with it, and the PS3 is both way to expensive, and too sports oriented

I was under the impression that only certain games were backwards compatible such as Halo, but I guess I could be wrong.

Yeah you're right Tatlin. Some games are backwards compatible using a software emulator.

I think it would be easier to just buy a used xb + games. They're dirt cheap right now. That's actually part of why I wont be buying a 360 anytime soon. I've played the 360 a few times, it really is just a fancy XBox with more power under the hood. I guess that's what Microsoft was going for.

I find that highly retarded. I've said it all along - Microsoft is so not a gaming company. There's no way they should be able to compete with a company like Nintendo, who's ONLY purpose is quality gaming. I have no idea why dumbfuck American douche bags buy into this shit.
