Pretend for a moment that the government didn't have a voice in abortion. Do you think abortion is ok? Why should someone NOT have an abortion?

I am not a woman, and will never truly understand what a woman goes through to create a human being. It is a miraculous process, the reason we exist, and there is nothing more amazing than the ability for two people to organically design such a complex being.

However, I believe there is more than one fence in this issue. Religious dilemma aside, it could be emotionally damaging to have an abortion. There is also the question of is it worth it? Is it really necessary to have an abortion instead of just bearing the cross? And if you do have the child there is always the possibility of putting it up for adoption.

I do believe that an unborn is just an organ in the mother. It is not an individual yet, but a part of the mother not unlike the heart or lungs. However, it is a sacred one and not something that should be taken as lightly as a kidney.

Or what about the other billions of sperm that never make it? Or the flushed egg of a female? There is nothing sacred about them because they are just cellular mucus. What changes between then and conception? The two join together and multiple again and again, eventually forming a baby. So why is an abortion so unspoken?

On the other side of the fence, what makes having an abortion any different from a mother killing her infant?

IMO, abortion is perfectly acceptable under specific circumstances. Which is to say, if you're gonna go out and fuck everything with a penis without a condom because you know you can just get an abortion and not think twice about it, fuck you. You're keeping your kid, like it or not. If you're raped, or like 14, or blah blah blah, then why the hell not? Abortion is universally illegal after a certain amount of months, which signifies that there's a point where the fetus becomes so developed that it really is like taking a human life. But, as you pointed out, takai, up until that point, it's just another piece of the mother, progressivly growing.

i have to agree with Ash on this one. if the girl is raped, no matter the age, she should have to option to have an abortion. she COULD give it up for adoption after birth, but what woman would want to brith the child of a raist
