Yesterday 5 million people (mostly hispanics) took to the streets of major cities around the country protesting the bill in congress that would tighten up our borders.

    Bout fucken time....

In texas now, i am a minority... ill give ya two guesses whos the majority, but youll only need one...

Illegals have been pouring into this country since before i was born and its about time we try to tighten the reigns up some on all these people.

Dont get me wrong, im all for the "American Dream" of coming here and living a better life, but far too many are coming across illegaly, collecting welfare, getting free medical care, ect... If you want to come here then at least do it the right way. Get citizinship, get a job, pay your taxes, THEN ill welcome you with open arms

As far as the protesters.... im sure about half of them WERNT citizens, which meens they have no rights, which meens they should have been rounded up there on the spot and deported

Well I think that's the idea behind the protests. These are not people that come here just to collect our unemployment benefits, they come here to work in the fields picking fruit and other jobs no one else wants. The protesters are mainly young people whos parents came here illegaly to work, perhaps to send money back home, or just to follow the American Dream like you said.

The problem is that these families whos parents moved here many years ago would be sent back to Mexico. Imagine if today the government came to your door and said they would be taking your parents to their country of origin, even though they've lived in the US for 30 years. You would be split up from your family or be forced to go to this country even though you've lived in the US your whole life.

well if theyve been here for 30 years, supporting a family and such, youd think they would have enough common sense to apply for citizinship. Which is my biggest thing, you can come, yea, thats great and all, but learn the languange, get ur papers, and get a job

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for tightening up the borders. I also think they need to be stricter on deporting illegal immigrants for breaking the law; one strike you're out kind of thing.

In a way it seems like people should work on improving their own countries instead of just moving to the US. Other wise nothing is going to change and they're only hurting their Mexican nationality. On the flip side, if Mexicans continue moving to the US the Mexican economy will eventually cripple over and companies will pay more for workers, which in the end would keep people in Mexico.

I think the US needs to reform its immigration system as well. We have very little border security facing white nations, such as Canada, when in reality it's more of a threat since that's where the 9/11 hijackers got into the US. The fact is, terrorists are not going to wait 16 years to get citizenship before coming to the US. We need to help people that try to get into this country legally.

I know a woman from the Netherlands who basically waited her whole life to get into the US. Her parents tried for years with out luck, due to the slow and confusing process. She eventually got in when she was in her late 20s. She holds little respect for people that get into this country illegally.

You know, our families were all US immigrants at one point or another. That's what makes this country great. I think people are more scared of change. Mexican culture and language is having an impact on the American way of life and people don't want to change.

I agree about speaking English. I wouldn't move to Mexico if I didn't speak Spanish. I feel sorry for the Mexican kids that move here with their family and speak no or little English, making it basically impossible for them to get through school. The reality is, if you can't speak English you will just be working in fields your whole life.

Being Mexican doesn't mean you need to be ignorant or closed-minded about the issue...If you're so damn proud to be Mexican, why don't you go back, and stay there? And don't say you're not old enough, because I know you'll still be living in the states into your 30s.

In any event, I don't remember where, I think I was listening to Howard Stern. They had a clip of Arnold the Gouvernator saying something about how they can't just build a wall...

Why the fuck not? Right now, there's NOTHING separating the US from Mexico. Walls worked in Berlin. They worked in China. Why not build a wall around our borders? Only 2 ways in: The legal way, and climbing. One way's much easier than the other, especially if you have 24 hour guards watching at every ______ yards.

(forgive any missing spaces... my spacebar is 1/2 broke...)

as the politicians see it, it would cost millions to build (likely with illegal labor helping) and millions to upkeep and enforce. whileim willing to pay this in my taxes, some peoplemight not.

and honestly, we have some of if not THE mostlax immigration policies in the world.

and fyi, the berlin wall was built bythe russians to keep E berlin people in the city, and was enforced with machine gunplacements. i dont think Mexico would apriciate us ripping appart its citizens. China's worked cuz it was fucken huge, which would work, at a cost of millions more which im sure congress would hate to spend.... fucken congress...

Well, they're already working on a 6-foot high barbed wire fence streching from the California border to Texas.

Last weekend at a press conference, President Bush was asked if the new Spanish version of the National Anthem had the same value as the English version. He answered, "I think the national anthem ought to be sung in English and I think people who want to be a citizen ought to learn English and they ought to learn to sing the national anthem in English."

At first I thought, wow, what a stupid conservative response. After considering it though, I realized that he was right. The National Anthem was written in English and intended to be sung that way. No matter your heritage or language, the Star-Spangled Banner doesn't hold the same relevancy when sung in a different language.

However, Bush's idea for a temporary employment pass is not a good idea. Well, at least not for normal Americans. It would tip the economy and force wages down, since there would be tons of illegal immigrants willing to work longer hours for less money (why would a business hire YOU when they could pay a Mexican crap wages for more work). I guess on the flip side it might slow factories from moving to China.

I don't think machinegunning them is the answer... Especially since they were in this country before we were... Landmines would be more effective

ROFL yea, cuz machine guns will stop them all from comming cuz uhave no chance. Land mines leave a chance to get across, meening more will try it!

but yea... i heard on the radio today what one US cit had to go through to work in Mexico for a year....

LONG ass forms to fill out, he had to write a paper, in spanish, saying why Mexico needed him to come work there insted of getting a cit to do it, he had to show his visa, both US and MEX drivers lisences, birth cirtificte. once he got his work visa he had to take a tour of 5government buildings, and pay about 2k in fees/bribes, has to rent in Mexico because non-cit rnt allowed to own land so he gets gouged onrent prices.and was told if he gets pulle over NEVER give the cop his lisence, cuz itll cost a huge bribe to getit back

and he wants US to open OUR borders.....

No no no you see just because im a border jumper doesnt mean anything. I just have crossed the border. You people still dont get it you think u iknow it all from reading and all. You experience the truth when you are a mexican. Have you even read the entire bill that they want to pass? I bet not...

Requires up to 700 miles (1120 km) of fence along the US-Mexican border at points with the highest number of illegal immigrant crossings. (House Amendment 648, authored by Duncan Hunter (R-CA52)
Requires the federal government to take custody of illegal aliens detained by local authorities. This would end the practice of "catch and release", where federal officials sometimes instruct local law enforcement to release detained illegal aliens because resources to prosecute them are not available. It also reimburses local agencies in the 29 states along the border for costs related to detaining illegal aliens. (Section 607)
Mandates employers to verify workers' legal status through electronic means, phased in over several years. Also requires reports to be sent to Congress one and two years after implementation to ensure that it is being used. (Title VII)
Eliminates the Diversity Immigrant Visa (also known as Green Card Lottery) program. (House Amendment 650, authored by Bob Goodlatte)
Prohibits grants to federal, state, or local government agencies that enact or maintain a sanctuary policy. (House Amendment 659, authored by Thomas Tancredo) (withdrawn 12/16/2005 by unanimous consent)
Incorporates satellite communications between immigration enforcement officials. (House Amendment 638, authored by John Carter)
Requires all United States Border Patrol uniforms to be made in the U.S. to avoid forgeries. (House Amendment 641, authored by Rick Renzi)
Institutes a timeline for deployment of US-VISIT to all land-based checkpoints. (House Amendment 642, authored by Michael Castle)
Requires the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to report to Congress on the number of OTMs (Other Than Mexicans) apprehended and deported and the number of those from states that sponsor terror. (Section 401)
Formalizes Congressional condemnation of rapes by smugglers along the border and urges Mexico to take immediate action to prevent them. (House Amendment 647, authored by Ginny Brown-Waite)
All illegals, before being deported, must pay a fine of $3,000 if they agree to leave voluntarily but do not adhere to the terms of their agreement. The grace period for voluntary departure is shortened to 60 days.
Requires DHS to conduct a study on the potential for border fencing on the US-Canada border.
Sets the minimum sentence for fraudulent documents at 10 years, fines, or both, with tougher sentencing in cases of aiding drug trafficking and terrorism.
Establishes a Fraudulent Documents Center within DHS.
Increases penalties for aggravated felonies and various frauds, including marriage fraud and document fraud.
Establishes an 18-month deadline for DHS to control the border, with a progress report due one year after enactment of the legislation.
Requires criminal record, terrorist watch list clearance, and fraudulent document checks for any alien before being granted legal immigration status.
Reimburses states aiding in immigration enforcement.
Housing of illegals will be considered a felony and subject to no less than 3 years in prison.
Allows deportation of any illegal alien convicted of driving under the influence (DUI).
Adds human trafficking and human smuggling to the money-laundering statute.
Increases penalties for employing illegal aliens to $7,500 for first time offenses, $15,000 for second offenses, and $40,000 for all subsequent offenses.
Refusing to accept immigrants from countries which delay or refuse to accept the foreign country's citizens deported from the United States (Section 404)

the things in the bill are retarted basically if you associate with illegals you too are crimininals WELL GUESS WHAT PPL you would all be criminal well the ones of you who know me from the sega boards will be cus guess what I WAS ILLEGAL THEn

    now for a scenario
let say a house next to you is burning but you do nothing of it because you say hell well maybe theyll call the firemen what if ur neighbors are illegal guess what the fire might spread to your house and by the time u call the fire department it might be too late

...That was stupid. It doesn't say you'd get in trouble for KNOWING an illegal. It says you'd be fined for HIRING, or HOUSING an illegal, which, as far as I know, none of us has done.

If you ask me, that bill, and said fence, is exactly what we need. If you want to come into our country, great. You're welcome. Just do it legally.

The only reason you're so against this is because you have that fucking "machismo" bullshit. "omfg, I'm proud to be Mexican, so whenever anything involving the word 'Mexican' is in it, I'm going to rally and cry". Shut up already.
