I've been so pumped about the DS lite since it was announced last month. I knew Nintendo would come out with an updated DS model. They always release a "beta" of their system to fund the "alpha" (in this case, the DS lite).

It's exactly what the DS needed. I always liked the concept of the DS, but I just didn't care for the looks. The lite is awesome. It's slimmer, well layed-out, and stylish. Not only does it look better, the LCD screen is even brighter and looks amazing. Obviously their has been some hardware tweeks for it to be this small.

The new design is comparable to an iPod. Infact, it picks a lot up from Apple.

It was released last month in Japan and is being speculated for a May release in the US. There will be 3 colors available at launch: White, Navy Blue (almost black), and light blue.

    Great review with video:

I can't wait for this to be released, I'm going to buy one at launch and pick up a copy of Metroid Prime Hunters to play online (voice chat baby!).

    Thoughts?

My only thought: I REALLY wish I could trade in my DS for the Lite!

I've heard that the DS lite will be going for $129.99, with the original DS dropping to $99.99 - just a rumor though. If that's the case, maybe you could sell your DS before the lite is released to make a little more and use the money towards the lite?

I know when the Platinum Gamecube came out you could trade in your old Gamecube plus $75 and get the Platinum or something like that.

I'm mainly looking forward to playing online with it... It's freakin' awesome! Opera is releasing an official DS web browser in June too.

    That would be awesome!

I know Nintendo is also working on a DS Download cartridge where you can go online and download mini games and demos. I don't know if it will actually save them to the cartridge or if you can only play them online.

It seems like it would make sense to take that a step further and let people download movies with it too.

Also, I hear that with the DS web browser you'll be able to write URLs and such in and it will convert it to text. A huge plus considering you have to use an on-screen kb with the PSP or wait for the keyboard attachment (which doesn't sound very convinient to carry around in your pocket lol).
