A picture posted on YTMND, a crazy pop animation community, has caused a lot of trouble after it was copied on eBaum's World. eBaum's owner E. Bauman refused to take it down, resulting in a mass attack against the site. Tons of communities including YTMND, 4chan, Newgrounds, and more joined together and hacked eBaum's World. At one point the eBaum's forums redirected to a porn site. They also managed to shut down eBaum's with a DoS.

What do you think? It's pretty amazing how so many communities came together for this.

If you pay close enough attention, the bit on ebaum's is slightly different than that on ytmnd (EB's has a pic of her as a straight blonde - ytmnd doesn't).

    Interesting...

The YTMND version has changed though.

    Here's the response from eBaum:
"For the last 36-48 hours, ebaumsworld.com has been the victim of a global cyber-terrorism attack allegedly conducted by an alliance of webmasters and their followers who disagree with our company's editorial process..."

Right, they added a song and some words at the bottom. But that's easy enough to do without changing the original otherwise, isn't it?

If there's one thing I've learned about people who consider themselves hackers, it's that they have huge egos. Perhaps someone at ebaum's happened to have had the same *idea*, and posted it, and ytmnd ASSUMED it was a complete rip-off.

    OR

Perhaps it was a rip off, but not as blatently at YTMND thought. That is, someone could have seen it on ytmnd, and made their own version. That wouldn't be illegal. Immoral, perhaps, but not illegal. And certainly no call for an attack.
