    Microsoft is grouping some of their online functions into their new 'Live' trademark, including XBox Live, Office Live, and Hotmail. This is interesting, especially since all of their online stuff have been under the MSN name.

    So what does this mean with Hotmail? Will it still be a part of MSN? What's going to happen with MSN anyways?

    Microsoft just announced today that Hotmail will be renamed to Live Mail, also revealing the new logo:

    Apparently the new mail service is going to be completely rebuilt from the ground up, and I have a good feeling it's going to be GMail inspired. I suppose only time will tell, and things are moving fast.. The Live Mail beta could be released within days.

    msn messenger is also going to become windows live messenger. i don't know what to think of this! on one hand i'm opposed to this cause of a general fear of what ms are going to do but on the other hand some of the stuff looks neat. i only hope they carry on support for previous msn messengers cause otherwise fgts fgts fgts. ^^v;;

    My problem with the whole Live thing is that it's meant to bring the Microsoft Network (MSN) together with Windows, which means all of the Live (MSN) stuff will probably be integrated into Windows eventually. They're trying to make MSN the default online resource for Windows users to throw a punch at Google..

    I don't want a bunch of Microsoft's online tools built into my computer.. I want to choose what I use online.

    The Live trademark seems like a good move though. It's more brandable and sounds cooler.

    Also, have you checked out the Live website? I have to admit I'm impressed.. RSS + custom content is awesome.

    Here's a couple screenshots of Live Messenger.. Doesn't look as clean as MSN Messenger :(

    I love it when software uses up all my memory so all the windows turn white and my computer freezes. <3
