What is your opinion on the legallity of pot (weed, dope, marijuana etc)? Do you think it should be legal? What about medical marijuana?

I think it should be 100% legal. If tobacco and alcohol are legal, why not cannabis? Sure, it's stronger than tobacco, but then, it's not as addictive and you don't smoke it as often. And would a husband hit his wife after smoking a joint? Governments should legalise it, control it and tax it.

I'm honestly still not clear what their reasoning for it being illegal is. Because it can screw you up? Alcohol can be a lot worse.. 10 shots of 80 proof and you might be dead. The only way weed can directly hurt you is from lung cancer if used over a long period of time. How about Bush goes and smokes a fat one, then let him decide if it should be legal or not? If they put a backbone of rules to it and taxed the hell out of it then what do they have to complain about it?

Of course if it was legal in the U.S. they'd probably make it 21-only. And yes, there could be problems with toking while driving etc.

I can't stand people who smoke marijuana. It's stupid, it's illegal, and it takes lives. I like that it's illegal.

Please don't bring up the argument "drinking is legal, why shouldn't pot be?" That's retarded. Drinking should be outlawed as well.

However, I would prefer that it be legal. Not because I want people smoking it, but because of all the innocent Brazilian lives that would be spared each day, if there were drug cartels.

hmm should marijuana.. i dont think it should then all the other durgs or the people who make em would want to have thier product legal like heroine, cocaine, ectasy,Psychedelic mushrooms and etc. and i think people would use these while driving and stuff .

That's a very good point.. I had a friend that started using pot, he use to say he would never do crack or shrooms or anything like that. After smoking weed for a few years he started trying things like cocaine, ectasy, and shrooms. It really can be a gateway drug.

Ash, out of curiosity, why do you think it's stupid - besides it being illegal?

For the same reason drinking is stupid. It impairs your judgement, and causes you to do stupid things.

    "Hey, let's all get stoned"

    "All right, hell yeah!"

    *30 minutes later*

"I'm hungry...Let's go to *insert convienience store name here*"

    "Sweet, munchies!"

    *driving to the store*

    "Shit, look out for that...!"

    *dead 8 year old girl*

Gee someone's been watching the TRUTH commercials huh? But if memory serves me correct then you used to smoke pot too...so why the sudden change of heart? You never ran over a little eight year old girl and it wouldn't matter legalizing pot would probably kill the joy in taking it, After all most kids smoke it because it's illegal. Now it would be ridicules to assume it will be legalized because of the politics of the entire case, If anyone political tried to defend legalizing pot then there entire political career would be dead. Personally I know it doesn't make a difference because if its legalized then kids will smoke it just to say they can, I'm talkin' like 6 year old kids. And the teens and older would stop cause it isn't rebellious anymore. So that only make the case worse cause now the little kids are doing it instead. As for the the idea of imposing an age limit then the teens under the limit would smoke pot even more because they are being teased by it like alcohol. All in all the situation is a mess and there is now way of making it better.

lol i'm not too sure about that fatty. if pot was made legal, teens wouldnt stop doing it b/c it isn't rebelious, they would go blow all their cash on weed and smoke it 24/7. most pot heads don't smoke b/c its wrong, they do it b/c they think its fun to get high, nothing more nothing less.

and no i do not support the legalization of marijuana.

All drugs should be legal. Think about it: would you take heroin if it were legalised? Most people who would take drugs take drugs whether it's illegal or not. A legalised drug market would help save lives, raise funds for government and control supply of these substances.
-With government control over what drugs are available, drugs would be purer and safer.
-Drug cartels would no longer exist: government-supplied drugs would tend to be cheaper, easier to get hold of and better. Random drug dealers would find themselves priced out of the market.
-Pharmacists could (possibly) restrict supply of hard drugs like crack to addicts; like tobacco and alcohol, there would be a minimum age limit. Unlike tobacco and alcohol, drugs would mostly be sold at pharmacies (I guess pot could be sold at Amsterdam-style coffee shops) so underage kids would find it harder to get high.
-Doctors could prescribe medical marijuana: cannabis is an awesome painkiller.
-Drug users would generally not have to become criminals to feed their addiction. Dependant addicts could get a limited supply of the drugs they are dependant on prescribed by their doctor in exchange for attending help sessions.
-Freedom to choose what goes into one's own body.

Anyone got a sound argument against that? I think I've covered all the bases here.
