An avatar is a small graphic image used to express or represent yourself that appears below your details in posts. Your avatar can be set in your profile.

There are 4 methods you can use to get an avatar:
    1. Select Avatar from gallery [/b:adf5eda433]
Select from a variety of avatars to use. Please note: You must check the box that says 'Delete Image' before you view the gallery - even if there isn't an image shown.
    2. Upload Avatar from your machine[/b:adf5eda433]
Uploads an image from your computer to the site that will be displayed as your av.
    3. Link to off-site Avatar[/b:adf5eda433]
Input the URL of the location containing the image to use as your avatar.
    4. Upload Avatar from a URL [/b:adf5eda433]
If the above method fails, enter the URL of the location containing the image and it will be copied to this site.

Because OP automatically resizes your av if it's too big, you don't have to worry about the dimensions. However uploaded avatars can be no larger than 256 KB. There is no reason the file should even be this big!
