Thanks to the wonderful, generous, kind, warm-hearted, infallible, handsome... - okay that's enough sucking up - Takai! Thanks for putting up with us, mate.

Oh yeah, I'm Kuro, hi *waves like an idiot*

    That'll show 'em.

Welcome. I'm glad you joined, although don't feel like you have to just because Gerad asks you to :/

How long has owa been around anyways? Who actually started it?

    Thanks for the welcomes.

The board was created on March 22 2004 by iem/mei. So we're closing in on our 1 year anniversary. I joined a day or two later and quickly rose to the rank of admin *smug*

Wow Rez, forget to use the spellcheck? lol

But yeah, I can only guess that it's thanks to IRC for all of FFOWA's members. Speaking of which, OP has an IRC channel that Gerad and Nintendud were idling in for me. I haven't been on there in a while...

Actually we didn't get any members whatsoever from mIRC until we came onto your server. Our success in the past came from mass IMing on Yahoo Messenger (I was one of the 2/3 that did that a lot), leaving trail messages in threads we had started at other forums and telling all our friends to join. But most of us "veterans" all came from the same place and decided to expand our horizons.

What Landlord said is... correct, but it's more than that. Early on (around April) myself and Savior_Sephiroth (a member who doesn't come around as often these days) advertised on Yahoo! Chat with some success, as well as through sigs on other boards (generally FFShrine) and certain members posting in clubs we were members of. (I seem to recall Boogy said he only joined because everyone who was in his club left. ;( )
From then on, the InvisionFree directory helped a bit, and word of mouth got a few members, as well as affliating with about 6 or 7 small IF boards. Until we switched servers to you, that was it.
Now, Landlord spam PMing 150 members on FFShrine (gj) and, to an extent, IRC, have helped us get a few members.

Kuro: It was Boogy's spamming of the Shrine remember? I think the exact quote from the IF guy was "Apparently your board was being used to arrange attacks on other FF boards." or something of that sort.
